Understanding the Tool
Small Moon End: Curved, small end designed for precise cuticle pushing and cleaning around the nail bed.
Flat Blade End: Straight, flat edge used for cleaning under the nails, removing debris, and pushing back the cuticle.
Preparation
1. Clean and Sanitize: Make sure your hands and the client's hands are clean. Sanitize the Small Moon and Flat Blade pusher to ensure hygiene.
2. Soften Cuticles: Soak the nails in warm, soapy water for a few minutes or apply a cuticle remover/softener to make the cuticles easier to push back.
Using the Small Moon End
1. Positioning: Hold the tool comfortably in your dominant hand, similar to how you would hold a pencil, for better control.
2. Pushing Back Cuticles: Place the Small Moon end at the base of the nail, where the cuticle meets the nail plate. Gently push back the cuticle using small, gentle, circular motions. The smaller size allows for precision work around the edges and corners of the nail. Apply light pressure to avoid damaging the nail or the cuticle. Follow the natural shape of the nail to ensure uniform pushing back of the cuticle.
Cleaning Around the Nail Bed:
Use the Small Moon end to carefully clean any excess cuticle or dead skin around the nail bed, especially in tight corners where larger tools may not reach.
Using the Flat Blade End
1. Cleaning Under Nails: Turn the tool around to use the Flat Blade end. Gently insert the flat blade under the nail tip to clean out any dirt or debris. Use a gentle back-and-forth motion to lift away the debris. Be careful to avoid applying too much pressure, which can injure the nail bed or surrounding skin.
2. Pushing Back Cuticles: The Flat Blade end can also be used to push back cuticles. Position the flat blade at the base of the nail and push back the cuticle with gentle, even pressure.
This end is particularly useful for broader strokes and for working on wider areas of the cuticle.
